Rankings and signing-efficiency reports

Every season, SigningLab publishes how well each club and each league turned signings into performance, signing by signing. Open and validated, with editions since 2016; the 2016–2024 editions are retrospective analyses of historical data, and from the 2025 edition onward publication follows the regular post-season window. Start with the club rankings below; the cross-league comparison follows.

How it works

What the rankings are, and how they are made

Each ranking measures the share of a club's signings that performed at or above the baseline expected for the level of investment, read on minutes, performance, availability and collective contribution. A club that finds undervalued players who outperform ranks above one that spends more for the same result.

The reading is ex-ante and auditable: outcomes are compared against what was reasonable to expect before each signing. The market gets roughly one in three right; the rankings show who does better, and who does worse.
